This is my response to this week’s photo prompt by “Friday Fictioneers”.

The sun is setting, but today Sheila is not feeling like herself. Her name in Hindi means a virtuous person, an ethically correct and kind person. All her life, she tried to live up to her name. But to what end?
Today Sheila can’t stop questioning. She is distraught over the loss of her friend to a shooting. Her longing for the River Ganga, for her roots, for her home, intensified.
“Apne hi paani mein mil jaana barf ka muqaddar hota hai.” She thought.
(It is the fate of ice to melt into the very water it came from.)
She booked her flight to Haridwar right away.

Very well constructed message, ‘Homesick’ and home calling the soul to where life truly belongs.
